The Original Devlpmt. of the IPS 12" Sub-Micro Size Heli

From time to time, I receive email requests, from folks that are familiar with my developments, asking me to post on the original IPS heli called the MIA House FLY which I developed in a DIY as well as a commercial versions back in 2001. At one time, the House FLY had its own forum (under microrotors) where I gave out all design parameters and tips on making a home brewed version, but that forum dissapeared when the commercial versions, the MIA House FLY H-300 came out.

I want to say I appreciate the emails, and requests but it's been a while since I posted anything about the MIA House FLY due to continued smaller heli developments and manufacuring that always keeps me busy. It appears that since some other folks around the globe have been busy themselves making similar helis , maybe this is a good time for me to bring back the House FLY now that we have better and lighter RC equipment which allows helis of this size to fly even better tha we did back them.

201 HF Flying inside a Gym.

Rotor Features: "Rock Solid" the Rotor allows the heli to cruise smooth in the air.
Batteries: Qualcoms 3vx3cell pack.

Today the same HF heli will fly on Lipols Like a Dream!

Lipols is the reason why recent similar size home brewed version of IPS helis are able to fly well, even some with standard camber blades and rotor heads that have poor damping. However, the main difference from a home brewed IPS heli and a MIA commercial heli is in the proper damping of the rotor head.

Time permiting I'll try to post as much as I can and have documented on it.

Inspirations that brough me to making the MIA House FLY the Sub-Micro size and in particular selecting the IPS Motor for power:

The Robin 3-50 heli was and still is a fun flyer that tought me a lot about the possibilities of turning it into RC full control. Powered by a Hiline Micro 4 motor with 10:1 gear and 4:1 belt drive. Full pitch adjust on both Main and Tail Rotors allowed this heli to be adjusted for different flight patterns. Three 50mah Ni-Cads powered it with a Polaroid flat battery to recharge the smaller flight battery.
