Habe ich bei Microcenter.com gefunden:

I've spent most of the last week working on a new mod to fix the SE's lack of power. The SE drives the motor using pulse width modulation, it turns the motor on and off very quickly to give proportional control. It does this at a rate of about 105 times per second (if you hold the wheels still you can hear it buzz at 105Hz). The problem is that even at full throttle it does not turn the motor all the way on, max on the second gen cars is 56%.

I've changed all that. My new control board intercepts the control pulse coming from the ZZ CPU, measures it, and outputs a new pulse that is more appropriate for a racecar. You'll have better low speed control of a high power motor, and you'll have a top end somewhere around 30-40% faster.

Previously sluggish first gen ZZSE's will be faster than a stock second gen by a good margin. The mod works with or without the FET mod, but will provide the best results when used with a FET mod. I'd also recommend a higher current battery, LiPoly, parallel dual cells, or a SuperCap voltage prop. This allows the motor to draw more current then the stock battery can provide, so while it will work with the stock battery, you'll get better performance with a higher current battery.

Heres the finished prototype. This board is obviously much larger than it need to be, its left over from a different project, and made a nice platform for developing this mod. You can see that the resistor has been removed, this is now running with the MOSFET mod. Eyeballing it after the FETMOD I didn't notice much improvement going from transistors to MOSFETs with the duty cycle mod installed (I haven't timed it with both the DC and FET mods yet). I suspect the stock battery is hitting its limits and just can't supply any more current. Dual parallel cells would be an interesting test.

In this particular installation a software glitch is preventing it eeking out the last 2% of current, but its close enough for a review, so I'll be shipping it back to its owner in a day or two. In initial testing (on carpet) I was getting a consistant 2.5 to 2.9 MPH using a red motor and blue gears. After the duty cycle mod, before FET mod, I ended up with consistant 3.5 to 4MPH performance. This is equivalent to the performance gain from the MOSFET mod alone. I have not done the test runs with both DC mod and FET mod. I'll do those tomorrow, and if I have a chance I'll mount a second battery and see how it does with that too.

Here is an image of it installed in the car. In this position it just barely fits under the old silver Mustang top. I'll redesign the PCB for the release version so its more trim and can fit somewhere else (probably on top of the motor). Please excuse the mess I've made of the board, its been through a lot to get to this stage.

Click for a ginormous version.
