as for the LiPo replacement and charger issue as well as the point where i wonder where best to hook up some SMD led's to the power,
i don't have much to offer but i'll send a batch of free heavy metal wheels for CombatdigiQ for anyone who will help us get along Very Happy

im shure it's not rocket science, and i know the electronic basics,
i just don't want to put my skill to the test trying to reinvent the wheel again and end up frying a digiQ in the process..

hi epoxy,

what function should the SMD -Led´s have?

as lipo saver?
or just as driving light?

Liposaver is not necessary... if you use 2 SI diodes to limit the power for the Digiq....

for driving lights i use "joule theaf" circuit

Hallo Beaver Very Happy

I had no special functions in mind for the led's besides the basic drivinglights,
but now you make me wonder what special fuctions they could have Laughing
i did notice a neat smd "rundumleuchte" somewhere else on the web,
but i figure that needs it's own circuit to have the led's alternate in turn.

And how did you get the led to start with the startup of the combatdigiQ
like you managed on your C7P "Klara" model ?
they seemed to come on with the ID transfer from the controller to the tank
or am i mistaken ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTppq1ZElfA&feature=plcp

ok, i see how to diodes would drop the voltage about 2*0.7 volts.
but where to place them exactly ?
(wild guess; in the place of the 250mA SMD "fuse" on the digiQ PCB) ?

and would these do or should i get something smaller ?

i noticed that joule thief circuit before but i didn't connect it for use with the digiQ's. lol
it also vaguely reminds me of a oldfashioned induction coil circuit for car ignition somehow, but without the voltage transformation or circuit breaker contactpoints.

any idea howmany led's you can run on one circuit ?
or would i need a joule thief circuit for each led ? (please say no)
or is it possible to give the secondairy induction coil a couple more "turns" for a higher voltage ? or a bigger ferrite core ?
maybe i outthink myself here ! Laughing electronics are fun ! hahaha
very intriguing.

and what about different colour led's ? would additional resistors be needed
to limit the brightness ? i mean wouldn't red led's light up much brighter then the white ones who seem to need more voltage to begin with ?

for people interested to learn more i find this video about the joule thief and how it basicly works:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GVLnyTdqkg

anyone know a good place to "shop" for parts for this project ?
it would be nice and easy to get it all in one place.

and of course changing to LiPo also needs another charger.
i saw cartman write in another topic about some "billig" charger circuit he found on Ebay for only a couple of euro's.
does anyone know something like that for the 70mA LipooZ ?

but hey, i think it's great there is a "live" thread again and people are willing to help noobs like me Very Happy
time to startup the "zinnguß" forge soon.. Wink

M.f.g.
