sorry, I feared as much about the translations,
just some questions about maintaining rubbertracks like the tracks of combatdigiQ. I was going to test holts rubberspray on some pulverized remains of what used to be a track, and see what happens.
if it has positive results, maybe I can use the holts spray for maintaining my gummitracks?
it just seems a good idea to ask the experts here.
maybe you have already tested it with disasterous results.
on the spraycan it says it will keep rubber flexible and will prevent from drying out. it's a silicone based solution.
enjoy

What are you talking about? Maintaining the tracks of a Digi-Q? Well, I do nothing with them. If they will ever brake, replacement is no problem. VS Tanks have about the same tracks. Shortening and glueing is no big deal. And of course you can use metal-tracks. _________________ Arbeit ist der Fluch der trinkenden Klasse (O. Wilde) |

Well Richie ,
it sure is easy to find replacement tracks for DigiQ. But not for other tanks like the tiny takara. And those need maintainance!
My takara tracks have gone powder, they have fallen into little pieces....
To avoid this, a few ideas/tips about proper gummitrack care might not be wrong....

thanks for the translation.
I'm testing the spray on some (very) old tracks now.
this weekend I'll check the results, if any.

well, first results are somewhat positive.
the gummitracks I tested on were from 25 jear old matchbox tanks. I tested on two different kinds of rubber/gummi compounds. these were already dried out and torn/ripped.
getting them of the tanks almost pulverized them in the process.
now they already are much more flexible and maybe even a little thicker than before. they can be pulled and streched a bit without breaking. internal friction is down a lot when bending them.
overal good results so far, however I'm still wondering, if they swell up a bit, will they also get longer or bigger in diameter.
in that case they don't fit anymore and become useless.
it's too early to tell. I'll keep them in/under the solution somewhat longer.
[EDIT]
so i tested the rubberspray but forgot to post the results ?
well, don't keep them in the solution too long as the rubbertracks do swell up a bit and become longer in the process.
just spraying them, and wiping hem of with a cloth after a few minutes has a good result.
they become more flexible, take back more of their original form, and the grip/friction on the track/kette itself is certainly improved much.
no more skidding shermans
using a spray like this could prevent dryrot.
i think it's best to remove the tracks before storage,
the continuous stress of the track being under tension on the wheels does speed up the process of ageing.
